
How much is your time actually worth as an internal recruiter?

As an inhouse recruiter, have you ever considered what the value of your/your team’s time actually is?
Let’s say a recruitment advisor earns £30,000 per year and works a 37½ hour week. The basic cost for that individual is approximately £577 per week (that’s without taxes).
Now let’s look at how long it takes them, on average, to recruit customer service advisors / contact centre agents (or similar). Consider the following:
They must take the time to complete a full job brief from the hiring manager to give themselves the best chance of filling the role(s)
Then the job description / advert needs to be written and posted on all the relevant job boards, and we all know that these platforms don’t come cheap! Let’s say the 4 main sites are used; advertising costs will run up into the hundreds, easily
Now, we operate in a very candidate rich market right now, especially within contact centre recruitment, so cue the 300 – 500 applications across these platforms which will make their way into your inboxes
If you’re doing your job properly, to ensure the highest level of candidate experience, these applications all need to be reviewed, acknowledged, rejected or if suitable, spoken with for detailed screening and scheduled for interview if they’re to be taken forward. Let’s not forget the pre-interview preparation calls, the post-interview debrief, the rejection / progression conversations, the offer management and ongoing Q&A before start – all very time consuming and expensive. After all, time is money!
